How often should you get your eyes tested

The NHS recommends that most people should get their eyes tested every two years.

However in some circumstances, they may recommend more frequent NHS sight tests;
for example, if you:

-are a child wearing glasses
-have diabetes
-are aged 40 or over and have a family history of glaucoma
-are aged 70 or over

You sight test does not only tell you if your sight has got worse, it can also detect some
eye-related pathologies, such as glaucoma, cataracts or retinal problems, and some non eye-related ones such as:

Diabetes
Hypertention
Autoimmune disorders (ex. Lupus)
High Cholesterol
Thyroid disease
Cancer
Tumors

If your doctor notices that the structure of your eye is unusual, you may be referred to a specialist.
Droopy eyelid or irregularly shaped pupils could possibly indicate a neck tumor or an aneurism.

Piet Mondrian and Neo-plasticism Inspire RayBan’s New Colour-Block Wayfarer

Take an iconic style and mix in some artistic Dutch flare and you get the Piet Mondiran inspired RayBan Wayfarer.

Mondrian evolved his form of art to consist of white background, upon which was painted a grid of vertical and horizontal black lines and the three primary colours.

RayBan has followed suit and incorporated Mondrian’s use of colour and shapes in their exclusive Colour-Block Wayfarer. With hues of blue, red, yellow & orange, the patterns look absolutely stunning in the sunlight.

Ray Ban is available at all Henry Smith & Hamylton Practices.

Google X reported in The Times Paper and throughout the internet this week

Rumour, and at present that is all that can be said that by the end of this year our smart display seen on Android phones will soon be backlit on special spectacles being prepared by Google. It is believed to be planning this new mobile device, a pair of glasses that will relay all the information of a phone straight to your eyes.

Reports from many gismo internet sites suggest that Google will release the high-tech spectacles by the end of the year. The normal lenses will have screens that sit a few centimetres from a user’s eyes.
The New York Times has suggested that the mobile glasses will cost between $250 and $600 (£160-£380).

Google declined to comment.

Though the concept sounds outlandish, it is known that the company has created a grand new project dubbed “Google X” at its campus in Mountain View, California.
